BRI International Green Development Coalition (BRIGC) signed a Framework Agreement on International Communication Cooperation with the Business Development Department of China Daily on April 18, 2024 in Beijing. Zhou Guomei, Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), and Zhu Baoxia, Deputy Publisher and Secretary General of China Daily, attended the signing ceremony. Cui Dandan, Secretary General of the BRIGC Governing Board, and Gong Zhengzheng, Director of the Business Development Department of China Daily, signed the Agreement on behalf of the two parties.

The Department of International Cooperation of MEE expressed appreciation to China Daily for its long-term care and support for the protection of ecology and environment. It is an important task for the MEE to promote the spreading the President Xi Jinping’s Thought on Ecological Civilization to the international community and share the story of BRI green development with the world. Currently, the protection of ecology and environment and the pursuit for green and low-carbon development have become the shared goal of all countries around the world. It is hoped that the two sides fully leverage the newly signed agreement to improve capacity building in international communication in the field of ecology and environment, share the contribution and actions of China’s deep engagement in global environmental governance with the world, and showcase the positive role of Belt and Road cooperation in promoting the implementation of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and jointly pursuing green and low-carbon development.

China Daily pointed out that the protection of ecology and environment has always been an area of focus for China Daily. Promoting and elaborating on President Xi Jinping’s Thought on Ecological Civilization and showcasing China’s achievements in ecological civilization construction is an important task for China Daily. China Daily and MEE have shared goals in international communication. For the next step, China Daily will focus on ecology and environmental protection to plan more activities that can vividly share the outcomes of Belt and Road cooperation with the rest of the world. According to the Agreement, the two parties will carry out extensive cooperation in the promotion of flagship events, the development of digital international communication platforms, and the analysis of policy research and activities impacts.
