The BRI International Green Development Coalition Adds 9 New Members

In May 2025, BRI International Green Development Coalition (BRIGC) admitted new members. Nine institutes from Indonesia, Thailand, Uzbekistan, Kuwait and China joined BRIGC family as members. Their business areas include renewable energy, climate change response, green finance, green technologies, among others.

 

1.The Arab Towns Organization (Kuwait)

The Arab Towns Organization (ATO) was established in 1967 and is headquartered in Kuwait City. As a non-profit policy research organization, its mission is to preserve the characteristics and heritage of Arab towns, support urban development and modernization, and improve and promote urban services and public utilities.

2.Beijing Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Center

Beijing Energy Conservation and Environmental Protection Center, established in 1982, is a deputy bureau-level, first-tier public welfare institution directly under Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform. Mainly engaged in comprehensive energy conservation and environmental protection work and undertaking government commissioned functions. Promote the establishment of the Beijing Green Silk Road Innovation Service Base and build Beijing green cooperation innovation service brands.

3.China Communications Construction Company Limited

China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) was founded in 2005. As a global leader in comprehensive infrastructure services, its core business covers the investment, construction, and operation of transportation infrastructure, equipment manufacturing, urban integrated development, and dredging projects. With its full industry chain service capabilities and diversified business layout, CCCC continues to promote innovation and development in the global infrastructure industry.

4.Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency

The Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) is a non-profit organization established in 1989 to assist in the development of management systems for industry and commerce. It focuses on third-party certification in areas such as quality management, environment, occupational health and safety, and social responsibility. Additionally, the agency has expanded its services to include green finance, carbon footprint certification, and sustainability services, helping businesses in Hong Kong and Mainland China enhance their management capabilities and international competitiveness.

5.Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou)

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) is a university established with approval from the Ministry of Education of China, a collaboration between Mainland China and Hong Kong. It was officially founded in June 2022. The university is characterized by its focus on developing interdisciplinary fields, exploring innovative talent development models, and is dedicated to cultivating high-level, future-oriented innovative talents.

6.Institute for Essential Services Reform (Indonesia)

The Institute for Essential Services Reform (IESR) is a non-profit policy research institution focused on energy transition and public service reforms, founded in 2003, with its headquarters located in Jakarta. The institute's core goal is to promote sustainable development and equitable energy transitions in Indonesia, with a focus on research and advocacy in areas such as renewable energy, climate change policy, and electricity market reform.

7.The Just Transitions Incubator (Thailand)

The Just Transitions Incubator was established in Bangkok, Thailand, and focuses on promoting actions for an energy just transition, striving for an inclusive and climate-safe future. Its areas of work include supporting institutional capacity building and clean energy transition.

8.The “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage (Uzbekistan)

The "Silk Road" International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage is the first national international university established in Uzbekistan. Located in Samarkand, the "heart of the Silk Road", the university houses the Silk Road Research Institute, among other facilities. It is currently directly under the Ministry of Ecology, Environment Protection, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

9.Technical Center for Soil, Agriculture and Rural Ecology and Environment, Ministry of Ecology and Environment

The Technical Center for Soil, Agriculture and Rural Ecology and Environment is a public institution directly under the Ministry of Ecology and Environment. It provides technical support and services for ecological environment monitoring and regulation related to soil, agriculture, rural areas, and groundwater.

At the Interim General Assembly of Members of BRIGC held on May 30, representatives from new members enthusiastically shared visions and expressed their readiness to actively participate in building a Green Silk Road. They would like to leverage respective advantages, and contribute to the development and prosperity of BRIGC. BRIGC will work together with its 51 members to promote the high-quality development of the Green Silk Road and collaborate with Belt and Road partner countries in advancing toward the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
