Zhao Yingmin, President of BRI International Green Development Coalition (BRIGC), met with Amb.Tatiana Rosito, Secretary for International Affairs at the Brazilian Ministry of Finance, on June 28, 2025 in Beijing. The two sides had in-depth exchanges of views on global environmental and climate governance, green investment and finance, and other issues of mutual interest.
Zhao Yingmin noted that since last year, the presidents of China and Brazil have exchanged visits and decided to elevate China-Brazil ties to the community with a shared future for a more just world and a more sustainable planet. The decision created new impetus into the bilateral relations and the global pursuit of green, low-carbon transition and sustainable development. Today, we are standing at a critical moment in navigating the global environment and climate process. As two major developing countries, China and Brazil have great potential for future cooperation in promoting green development and safeguarding the multilateral process on climate and environmental governance. As an important organization in promoting South-South cooperation, BRIGC is willing to take the BRI Green Innovation Conference as the core, supported by the Green Investment and Finance Partnership (GIFP), Green and Low-Carbon Expert Network (GLEN), and the BRI Environmental Big Data Platform, and actively promote alignment between the Green Belt and Road Initiative and the major development strategies of Brazil, especially synergies between GIFP and the Brazil Climate and Ecological Transformation Investment Platform (BIP). These efforts are expected to enhance China-Brazil cooperation in green and sustainable development, and set an example for the Global South to deepen cooperation and collaboration in green development.
Tatiana Rosito introduced Brazil’s actions to deliver on the Roadmap of Baku to Belém, to construct the circle of financial ministers for COP30 to promote multilateral development bank reforms and innovative concessional financing mechanisms, and to support the new and innovative Tropical Forests Forever Facility (TFFF). Tatiana Rosito mentioned the joint statement issued by China and Brazil on strengthening the construction of a China-Brazil community with a shared future for a more just world and a more sustainable planet in May 2025, which reinstated the commitment of the two sides to promote alignment of development strategies and deepen practical cooperation in infrastructure, clean energy and other critical areas for sustainable development of both countries. According to Tatiana Rosito, Brazil is ready to do its utmost to support cooperation between BIP Secretariat and GIFP to forge synergy. Brazil is also looking forward to attending the BRI Green Innovation Conference, the side events on green finance at the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development (FFD4) held by BRIGC and other dialogue events to further enhance bilateral exchange and cooperation in climate investment and financing and green finance, and jointly secure a more inclusive, green and sustainable future for the Global South.
Minister-Counselor of the Brazilian Embassy in China, Secretary-General and Chief Development Officer of BRIGC attended the meeting.
