China Concept Drives Global Green Transition Cooperation

2025-08-27Source:People's Daily

The concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" has become known to and recognized by an increasing number of countries. It vividly demonstrates how China's development philosophy enriches global governance and provides a model for building a future where humanity and nature coexist in harmony.

China proposed the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", which has not only reshaped its own development but also offered conceptual guidance and a practical framework for global ecological progress and for realizing the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. This concept regards environmental quality as an important component of national development. It has strongly promoted international cooperation on green transition, especially by providing insights and solutions for developing countries seeking sustainable prosperity.

The concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" has changed traditional development thinking by treating environmental protection as a development driver rather than an obstacle. It emphasizes the long‑term potential of natural resources and regards them as a source of enduring wealth and well-being for humanity. By integrating ecological values into its economic and social development planning, China has actively pursued ecological restoration, established an ecological protection redline system, transformed resource‑dependent regions, promoted eco‑city planning, and fostered green industry innovation. These coordinated efforts help advance the Sustainable Development Goals and provide a model for other developing countries. The concept provides a robust response to the difficult task of balancing sustainability with economic growth. It is highly compatible with the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, particularly regarding ecological sustainability and climate resilience.

Practicing the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" has opened new channels for international cooperation. As the global economy moves toward decarbonization and green transition, the ability to deliver sustainable technologies, environmental services, and circular-economy solutions positions countries to lead future development. China is emerging as a provider of green technologies and a promoter of ecological investment, driving synergies between international economic cooperation and environmental governance. Through platforms such as the BRI International Green Development Coalition, China has stepped up exchanges and cooperation on policy instruments, technical capacity, and sustainable financing models with other parties, significantly strengthening the climate resilience of developing countries and helping them explore low‑carbon, sustainable development pathways.

In Africa, the twin challenges of environmental protection and economic development are particularly acute. The concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" is well aligned with Africa's needs for sustainable resource management and inclusive growth. Through mechanisms such as the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation and the Initiative for Belt and Road Partnership on Green Development, China actively supports Africa in advancing green infrastructure, promoting renewable energy, and carrying out ecosystem restoration. China's approach provides strong policy guidance for African countries' green, low‑carbon development, promotes South–South knowledge exchange, and advances coordinated economic and ecological development.

The European Union and China both regard ecosystem integrity as a foundation for long‑term development and share a common vision for advancing ecological progress, low‑carbon development, and high‑quality growth. This conceptual alignment has driven constructive cooperation between the two sides in areas such as biodiversity protection, the circular economy, green finance, and climate policy. In this context, both sides focus on common goals and promote policy innovation, realizing synergistic benefits. The China-EU High‑Level Environment and Climate Dialogue has become an important platform for related exchanges and cooperation. Both sides actively encourage collaboration among think tanks, industry associations, and enterprises to jointly advance global climate governance under the Paris Agreement and to promote global sustainable development together. The cooperation between China and Germany on climate and environmental governance is noteworthy. The two countries have deepened policy dialogue, enhanced technical cooperation, and strengthened capacity-building. They have also cooperated in emissions trading, energy‑efficient cities, and urban low‑carbon transport, among other areas. Germany's technological expertise and China's industrial capacity strongly complement each other in hydrogen energy. These collaborations reflect both countries' shared determination to enhance climate resilience and accelerate the global transition to a low‑carbon, sustainable future.

The concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets" has not only reshaped China's understanding of development but has also influenced global perceptions of development. This concept has become known to and recognized by an increasing number of countries. It vividly demonstrates how China's development philosophy enriches global governance and provides a model for building a future where humanity and nature coexist in harmony.
