Minister Huang Met with HKSAR Environment Secretary

On August 20, Huang Runqiu, Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE), met with Mr. Tse Chin-wan, Secretary for Environment and Ecology of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government, in Beijing. The two sides exchanged ideas on eco-environmental protection in Hong Kong SAR, the building of a green Silk Road and other issues of common concern.

Mr. Huang introduced national progress in ecological and environmental conservation in the new era under the guidance of the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", and fully recognized the efforts of Hong Kong SAR Government in improving eco-environmental governance and promoting green and low-carbon transition. He pointed out that MEE and the Hong Kong SAR Government has maintained close cooperation in the field of ecology and environment, and that it is hoped that the two sides continue to engage in exchange and cooperation on all levels and in all fields to jointly promote the building of the Greater Bay Area and the Beautiful China pilot zones.

Mr. Tse expressed his thanks for the guidance and support of MEE for eco-environmental conservation in Hong Kong SAR. He pointed out that the Environment and Ecology Bureau of the Hong Kong SAR Government will further deepen practical cooperation with MEE, especially in green technology and green finance, to contribute to the building of a beautiful Greater Bay Area and seek for more extensive engagement in the construction of a green Silk Road and global environmental and climate governance.
